The Upper Peninsula has been ranked the number one fall color destination in the country, and Rapid River sits right in the middle of it. What to do besides drive and look
You do not have to leave the property to see color. Our cabins and the lodge both look out over the bay with the treeline behind them, so a coffee on the porch is a fall-color view on its own. From here, drives toward Escanaba and Gladstone add lake overlooks along Green Bay and Little Bay De Noc, and the backroads north of Rapid River run through hardwood stands that light up in October. Bring a camera. Bring a thermos. The bay is quieter in fall, which makes an early morning paddle or a slow walk down to the dock worth the extra layer of clothing.
